The adjustments we made due to the pandemic were heartfelt throughout our communities. But, we all pulled together as families and friends and gave thanks for the many blessings we shared. We take our hats off to those who made their very first Thanksgiving meal...guess what, you can add that to your list of twenty-twenty accomplishments!
Let's take a look at Rock's Thanksgiving Picnic.....
The backyard was the perfect backdrop and the weather was gorgeous. Mica, my awesomely talented niece, created our Balloon Experience; the fall colors she chose floated us right into the mood. Checkout more of Mica's innovative creations on her website The JXPERIENCE https://www.thejxperience.com/
And like most of you ....WE ATE WAAAY TOO MUCH😋
We added all these ingredients to our Smoked Turkey Legs and threw those bad boys on the hot charcoals. Bud's Smoked Turkey Leg recipe, was featured on last weeks Dinning With Rock's blog.
OK, so we threw some ribs on the grill too, can't let a good charcoal fire go to waste.😁
Bud's Smoked Turkey Legs were Juicy and delicious, the mustard tenderizes the meat to the bone, and the flavor from the crispy onions takes it to a whole new level.
SOMETHING SWEET
What's Thanksgiving Dinner without dessert?....Let's make that Mouthwatering Carrot Cake.
I know it looks good and trust me it taste good too; the coconut and pineapples add a rich moistness to the texture. My mother didn't make carrot cake when I was growing up, but one of my childhood friends, "Dimples" had an Aunt (can't remember her name) that came to visit every year from California.
When I watched her put those shredded carrots in her cake batter I was thinking "I KNOW I'M NOT EATING THAT!". After tasting that cake, I couldn't wait for her to visit again to make another one.
Here's the short version of making my Mouthwatering Carrot Cake.
THE OLD FASHIONED PECAN PIE ALWAYS STEAL THE SHOW...
Th Old Fashioned Pecan Pie is a classic for Thanksgiving, the taste gives you a lil sweet and a lil salty. Believe it or not it's really easy t o make. The key to every recipe is to measure all your ingredients before getting started.
Top it with a big scoop of Blue Belle Vanilla Ice cream and it's on!😋
